2014-Present Head of Guidance
THOMAS TALLIS SCHOOL
Kidbrooke Park Road
Blackheath, SE3 9PX
UK
The area of Guidance at Thomas Tallis School encompasses the curriculum areas of PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education) and Citizenship and also includes Student Voice, SMSC (Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural provision), CIAG (Careers Information, Advice and Guidance) and Work Experience.
As well as teaching GCSE RE and Sociology and A-level Sociology and Health and Social Care, I lead and train a team of 43 non-specialist teachers in the curriculum areas of PSHE and Citizenship and develop SMSC and Student Voice across the school. I am also responsible for the design and development of the collapsed timetable 'Community Days' and work with students on public speaking and debating. Within the wider school community I am a school governor and a school representative on the borough Wellbeing Committee.
I am currently embarking on a project to develop Tallis Character within the school, based on Character Education and Child Wellbeing research.
